I. Officers present: Bill Gibron, Treasurer & Tournament Coordinator; Terri St John, VP
II. Coaches: 21 coaches and assistant coaches attended the meeting. Welcome to all!
III. New Officers: Jennifer Bell, Wharton HS, Secretary; Sylvia Ellison, Strawberry Crest, HS, 2nd VP Both are volunteers. Laurel McQueen, St Pete, offered to coordinate all extemporaneous event topics and prep room.
IV. Financial Statement: posted on website – approved
V. Tournament Schedule: Posted on the website – still in need of a Feb. 13 host and an MUN host
VI. NFL and FFL rules changes: We will keep you informed of rules changes after fall meetings occur.
VII. Fees: Approved – effective beginning with the October FGCCFL tournaments.
FGCCFL ONLY - $15.00 per student entry - $8 to the league and $7 to the host school
ONE payment only – no more some money to league and some to the host school
FGCCFL will pay the host school based on registration numbers
$7.00 for each additional lunch for judges, observers, adult observers
One complimentary lunch meal for each school’s head coach
VIII. Registration: Please READ invitations so you meet all registration requirements
Registration is due to Bill Gibron NO LATER than 9 PM on the Tuesday prior to the tournament. Please use the registration forms located on the website. Include judge names and be sure to include number of extra lunches needed for adult and student observers. You will receive an email from Bill letting you know how much you owe for student registration and your required judge quota, plus additional observers you have registered. Schools will be held financially responsible for all registered students and judges and observers.
IX. Awards : We agreed to continue giving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for all events.
X. Judge Training: It was agreed that coaches are responsible for training and providing trained judges for tournaments. By-laws language change … Tab Staff may levy … TO Tab Staff WILL levy a $25.00 fee for late registration, drops not reported before the first round (hidden drops), or failure of a judge to pick up a ballot for a round (no show judge).
XI. Judge requirements per pool: TABLED
XII. Student Judges: Approved to allow first year out students to judge beginning with fall tournaments. That means students who graduated in May or June may begin judging during the following fall season.
XIII. Adult Judges: Approved to allow judges to judge students from their own school, but not their own child. Also let TAB know if there are other conflicts.
XIV: Communication: Information regarding all league business can be found via email, on the FGCCFL website, and FaceBook.
XV. Grand Finals/NCFL Nationals Guarantee Fee: Approved. Schools will pay a $100.00 nationals guarantee fee with their Grand Finals Fees. The fees will be directly applied to your NCFL entry fees if you have qualifiers. If you have more than the $100 then you pay the additional fees. If you have less, or none, you will get the refund. NCFL money for qualifiers will be DUE no later than April 1st. Fees unpaid for a qualifier by April 1st will result in the spot being offered to the first alternate. Fees unpaid by April 5th for the 1st Alternate and the qualifying spot will be offered to the second alternate. Fees unpaid by April 10th for the 2nd Alternate will leave an unfilled nationals slot.
XVI. Debate Pairings. Approved: Rounds 1 and 2 will be paired randomly. Round 3 and 4 will be paired High-Low within Brackets with consideration to avoid teams from same schools hitting each other whenever possible. Elimination rounds beginning with round of 16 is sudden death.
