Student Congress Tournament

Cost:    $5.00 for competitors.

Checks for registration should be made payable to:  Lakewood High School. 

No fee for observers, judges, etc.

 

Food:   $5.00 for lunch - chicken, vegetarian pasta salad, beverage, and dessert prepared by The Salvation Army.

Checks for food should be made payable to:  The Salvation Army, with a note in the memo line:  Home League/lunch.

Please email with special dietary requirements, if appropriate.

 

Reminder:  Schools are financially responsible for reported numbers of competitors, judges, and coaches. Please collect money for your team or bring cash.

 

Judging requirements:  Each school should bring at least one judge and coaches should be prepared to judge unless they bring additional parents.

Your email should include: School Name, Coaches’ Names, Judges’ Names, total lunch numbers, and number of competitors and observers.

 

CONGRESS Information:

Please have your students bring legislation written in NFLformat. They should bring 30 copies with them. If you do not bring legislation, they will have nothing to debate! Please divide your students EQUALLY between five chambers. A separate Senate will not be seated. We will add or collapse houses as needed. Maximum in each chamber is 25. Session voting, final voting, and awards will take place in each chamber.

Registration will be held in the foyer.

Coaches, Judges and students should report to the Multi-Purpose Room.

Awards will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room at 2:15


DIRECTIONS: 

 

Note – there are many ways to get to US 19…the Courtney-Campbell causeway turns in to Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard….you can come over the Howard Frankland and follow the signs for 686 or 688 West and go to US 19…you may also access 686 or 688 West from I-275 coming from the south.

 

From the South:

Take U.S. Hwy 19 North to Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.  Turn left (west) on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard to Belcher Road.  Turn right (north) on Belcher Road.  The Salvation Army will be on your right just beyond The Long Center (the second big building north of the railroad tracks).

 

From the North:

Take U.S. Hwy 19 South to Sunset Point Road.  Turn right (west) on Sunset Point Road to Belcher Road.  Turn left (south) on Belcher Road.  The Salvation Army will be on your left (if you get to the railroad tracks, you have gone too far).  You will need to do a "u" turn before the railroad tracks to be able to enter the driveway to the venue.

 

From the East:

Take Highway 60 West (the Courtney Campbell Causeway) to Clearwater.  Highway 60 becomes Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard once you get into Clearwater.  Follow Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard to Belcher Road. Turn right (north) on Belcher Road.  The Salvation Army will be on your right (the second big building north of the railroad tracks).
